Check out this month's update to Xperience by Kentico. We added powerful marketing automation extensibility, email content locking, and KentiCopilot improvements for agentic website development. But, of course that's not all, so dive in and learn about the updates we've just delivered in Xperience by Kentico.

Better customer experiences with automation extensibility

Automations help marketers scale their ability to consistently react to customer engagement, guide customers through their journey, and integrate customer data into larger organization workflows.

While not new, automations remain powerful for driving digital experiences.

We've been talking a lot about marketing automations recently, as have experts in our community:

This interest stems from new extension points for automations in Xperience by Kentico:

  • Actions

  • Conditions

  • Triggers

Custom actions were released in the June 2026 Refresh, and with the July Refresh the full suite is now available.

We expect customers (with the help of developers using AI agents) invest heavily into these extension points, which is why we updated the step selection dialog in the automation builder interface.

Now marketers can quickly find the right steps through search or quick filters. The search function is also available for trigger selection.

Custom automation triggers

Custom triggers are the clearest overlap of automation ownership between marketers and developers.

Triggers are called from application code, capturing any relevant context and passing it to all other custom steps.

This means they can perfectly model any customer engagement and relevant business processes that drive customer experiences.

  • High-value order follow-up: welcome customers who make purchases above a specified amount

  • Cart abandonment with value floor: remind customers about their in-progress shopping experience as long as their cart value is high enough

  • Anniversary, birthday, and lifecycle milestones: celebrate customers with a friendly reward (as seen in the screenshot above)

While custom activities handle some scenarios, custom triggers offer precise context modeling across the entire automation workflow and enable marketers to control firing conditions.

Custom automation conditions

Xperience includes a dedicated condition step powered by the contact data condition rule builder. It's still available and now renamed Rule-based condition.

We also know the business requirements for automation decisioning will always vaster than we can accommodate for you, so we added custom condition steps.

Condition steps have the same access to extensible properties and automation context, meaning they model any decision based on data Xperience by Kentico has access to - not just combinations of contact activities and attributes.

Custom conditions can be designed to work with specific sets of triggers and actions or globally reusable across all your automations.

The example screenshot above showcases how marketers can use Xperience's campaigns to drive automation behavior - only offering an in-store discount to potential customers while the roaster education event is still being promoted.

Thanks to KentiCopilot's documentation MCP server, AI agents can build powerful UI Form Components, enabling developers to design condition step properties for your unique use case.

The example custom triggers and conditions in the screenshots above were generated by agents from simple prompts in a matter of minutes.

To help ensure that speed for all developers, the KentiCopilot kentico-digital-experience plugin (more on that below) will soon include skills for both trigger and condition creation.

Improved content collaboration with email content locking

We've been iterating on improvements to content collaboration over the past several Refreshes.

Content overwrite protection is a core platform feature that ensures marketers don't lose content when a colleague saves their changes to the same content item.

Content locking, on the other hand, is an opt-in global authoring workflow feature designed to help larger teams collaborate more effectively.

When we launched content locking, it applied to website pages, reusable content hub items, and headless content items.

July's Refresh brings the same content locking behavior to email channels so that it covers content authoring across the entire product.

This is especially helpful for recurring newsletters, which teams often prepare a week in advance as content is developed and reviewed.

Restructured KentiCopilot plugin marketplace

Xperience by Kentico is designed with AI-assisted or fully agentic development in mind, as evidenced by KentiCopilot. This is especially true for website channel experiences that most marketers use to engage with their customers.

Our goal with this AI focus is to increase the speed-to-market and scope of capabilities web development teams have when working with Xperience by Kentico.

Management MCP server

Video of Claude Code instructed to use the Management MCP server in a Dancing Goat project with minimal context.

Our rapid development of the Management API and MCP server is empowering developers to accomplish in days what used to take weeks. Since the updates in June's Refresh we are seeing significant adoption and receiving great feedback about how we can improve the developers' use of agents with the MCP server.

We've resolved many bugs and made several quality of life improvements:

  • Dynamic tools mode to reduce polluting agent context

  • MCP server successfully starts independent of Xperience host project

  • Page template filtering and website channel content type scopes support

  • Page Builder partial updates

  • Web page vanity URL management

AI agent-ready Dancing Goat

Our classic sample Dancing Goat application is now AI agent-ready with all essential project configuration included:

  • AGENTS.md: cross-agent high-level project context

  • .mcp.json: Kentico documentation MCP server

  • Design conventions SKILL.md: context for agents making website template and component design updates

  • README.md: next steps for agentic development, including setting up the Management MCP server

We're aware that most teams already have their own suite of agent configuration, skills, and related tools.

These Dancing Goat updates let you seamlessly bring your agentic development practices to Dancing Goat when experimenting with new features or supporting our team with bug validation.

Expect more updates here next month when we improve the quality of the entire Dancing Goat codebase and enable the Management MCP server by default.

Agentic website development and a restructured KentiCopilot plugin marketplace

The KentiCopilot GitHub repository began as a place to share agent prompts, instructions, and tools.

As the AI agent ecosystem and supporting technology have matured, we have adapted it into an official plugin marketplace to distribute skills, MCP servers, and other agent tools.

Video showing the KentiCopilot agentify skill used on a new Xperience by Kentico project.

The entire repository has been restructured and updated to v2.0.0, improving skill organization and guidance for developers and agents.

Skills are now grouped into plugins related to specific development scenarios:

Plugin Use case
kentico-web-development Preparing a project for agentic development, modeling content, building Page Builder components, retrieving content, and checking an implementation against a design
kentico-digital-experience Extending digital experience features for Xperience by Kentico
kentico-kx13-migration Auditing and migrating a Kentico Xperience 13 project, including content and live-site code
kentico-project-lifecycle Updating an Xperience project and configuring scoped Continuous Deployment Repository content

The new kentico-web-development plugin helps developers build Xperience websites with AI assistance.

It includes skills to model content from designs, build Page Builder widgets and templates, write content retrieval code, and validate results against the original design. A step-by-step guide for using the plugin's skills, with sample prompts, is included in the plugin's README.md.

As an example, the video above shows how to add the plugin marketplace to Claude Code and then use the /agentify skill to prep an Xperience project for agentic development according to our best practices. This skill is a perfect starting point for teams interested in bringing existing Xperience projects into agentic development.
