Some great new features in this month's refresh release.

I particularly like how the Combined Content Selector effectively takes the Page Selector to the next level, what with the ability to scope which web page content types are available for selection. This is a great improvement as it helps us to guide the content editor into selecting the appropriate type of content for the particular scenario.

Also custom notifications are a great new feature, as this will mean we can keep users informed of various events triggered from our custom features and implementations, be they in the CMS or website, AND create custom placeholders to populate these notifications with the appropriate data.

Looking forward to the email builder and AIRA driven image asset optimization and cropping features next month!

I'm also very excited about the combined content selector. The content architecture I chose for the Kentico Community Portal was partially based on limitations of accessing web page content in other channels (specifically email) and I ended up structuring information using the Content hub where just using web pages might have led to an easier content authoring and management experience as a marketer.

I still think the Content hub is where a significant amount of product value is and swinging the other direction to treat everything as a web page is the wrong lesson to learn. But, I plan on evolving the Portal's content model to something that feels a bit more natural. I want to choose to model content as a web page linking to a reusable content item vs just a web page based on what leads to the best outcome for content governance and reusability - not to work around a limitation.

Notifications are a great enhancement to Xperience really open up a lot of continuous, iterative, future enhancements, kinda like how we've approached improving automations. Custom notifications are pretty powerful and solve a problem I regularly experiences in KX13 - how to make notification management easy for marketers and notification authoring/hydrating/sending easy for developers. It was always possible, but never that easy. I think it's a piece of cake now 🎂.
