The Kentico Community Portal might be one of the most actively updated Xperience by Kentico projects running in production. Since its launch in October 2023 it has had at least 40 updates.

That's a lot to stay up to date with and if you use the portal primarily as a place to get information about updates to Xperience by Kentico you might have missed some of the improvements we deploy to the portal built on Xperience's Refreshes.

That's why we publish Kentico Community Portal Update blog posts! Let's begin...

More community content

To support the Kentico Community Portal as the home of Kentico's community programs, we've made some content and user experiences updates to the portal for all of you.

The Community page here in the portal hasn't changed as quickly as other areas of the website. Areas like the Blog, Q&A discussions, and Integrations had more need for improved UX and content early on.

Now we are ready to invest in the Community section and its content. Our first two major updates have just launched with the Kentico Community Programs in 2025 - MVPs and Community Leaders blog post.

First, we added a section below the Community Groups (user groups) list that links to our new Community Programs page. This page replaces the MVP Programs page over on Kentico.com, which now redirects here.

We also add a Community contributions form. This form is an easy way for the community to share with us all the new and existing things they do related to Kentico. This includes blog posts, videos, podcasts, conversations on LinkedIn about digital marketing and Xperience by Kentico, etc...

Community programs

We'll be updating the content on the Community Programs page to better describe the MVP and Community Leader programs, but we already have a form at the bottom of the page which you can use to tell us about your interest in one of the programs.

This form is special - it only shows up for visitors that are registered community members who are also logged in. It uses Xperience by Kentico's Page Builder Personalization and a hidden Form Builder field.

If you are interested in how you can achieve the same results for your Xperience by Kentico websites check out the Kentico Community Portal source code (or any of the recent project releases). Also keep an eye out for an upcoming blog post diving into this technique and what it unlocks for marketers using Xperience by Kentico.

Community contributions

Here at Kentico we always keep our eyes open for your contributions but we also know it's easy for us to miss something that would benefit the entire community if we only knew about and promoted it.

Please, please share these things with us so we can post about them in our blogs, on LinkedIn, and feature them in the Kentico Community Newsletter 🙌.

It's worth noting this form works just like the Community programs interest form - it requires you to be logged in to see it and submit your contributions.

Improved member profiles

Over the past several months we've made updates to the member experience of the Kentico Community Portal like better Q&A discussion authoring and member badges.

As the number of members and their time in the portal increases we want to also increase the feeling of community and individuality while also improving UX.

My account

Our next step in this process just came with an update to the My Account management page. It now exposes more fields you can customize for your profile like job title and details about your employer.

We also noticed many members were earning more badges as they engaged in the portal, so we increased the number of badges you can have displayed next to your avatar in Q&A discussions from 3 to 4. So, be sure to head to your account and add another badge if you have one to show off.

The avatar upload UX is simpler and includes tips on what kinds of images work best.

We also redesigned the page with a more organized layout for forms and content, and converted all the form submissions to use HTMX which should also result in a better submission and validation experience for you.

We plan to introduce new badges in the near future!

Member profile

Mirroring the updates we made to My Account management and new fields for member accounts we also updated the member profile page to showcase everything with and improved design.

This design makes room for us to grow when we add new badges, account fields, and links to member engagement across the portal.

If you want your member profile to look great and let people know who you are, just head over to your account management, add an avatar, and update your account details... maybe it will earn you a badge 😎.

Wrap up

We update the Kentico Community Portal continuously. It runs on Kentico's SaaS offering on the latest version of Xperience.

You'll probably seem UX updates roll out during the week if you pay close enough attention. Some of the larger updates we have in the works are member selected tags and email notifications for Q&A discussions.

We also are thinking of the best way to publicly share the large and growing library of community authored contributions we store in our Content hub - making the Kentico Community Portal a one-stop-shop for all community activity.

Until the next portal update post, cheers! 👋
